We welcome you to this free online course.

This course offers content of interest to those professionals who want to obtain a high degree of specialization in the Denomination of Origin Vinos de Jerez, ensuring that they have an adequate level of knowledge and a high degree of training for communication.

We propose you a fascinating and exhaustive tour through the genuine viticulture and winemaking of one of the wine-growing areas in the world that arouses the most admiration: history, territory, soils, grape varieties, elaboration, types of wine, sensory analysis, regulation, pairings and trends.

For a better student experience, the contents are illustrated with audiovisual material such as infographics, videos, or animations.

Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be able to download your certificate on this same page when your progress reaches 100%. You can also do this by going to the My Training section (top menu), selecting Completed, finding this course, and clicking on Certificate.

    A fantastic course. I very much enjoyed it and I learnt a lot. I would loved to have learned a bit more about the pagos and individual vineyard sites; It seems to be a profitable direction for sherry to go. I would also have liked to learn a bit more about the new regulations which seem to be quite revolutionary. The top down direction that producers are going in will, I believe, make Sherry a big deal again. I am currently reading César Saldaña's brilliant book which I would recommend to everyone. It's slow progress only because I'm reading it in Spanish.

    "Drying: Once the staves have been cut, they are left to dry in the fresh air during approximately two months to reduce the moisture content and coarseness of the wood. This process seasons the wood, softening its aromas and reducing the moisture content to around 12 -15%." Must be a mistake. As I know, seasoning takes at least 2-3 years, no months!

    Great course, learned a lot and enjoyed a glass or two as I progressed. Like many others, I was floored by the test in section 9 - daft answers and not the ones the learning leads you too. I ony eventually passed by working my way through all the possible combinations of answers. Tedious, but I wasn't going to be beaten at the last !

    The Spanish term for a small tasting glass for wine in general is: COPITA; The typical small sherry glass with tulip-shaped goblet is called CATAVINO; The special glass for the sherry type Manzanilla is called Caña! The word means bamboo and is probably derived from the special Venencia (scoop cup) used here, whose stem is made of this wood (instead of whalebone or silver as in Jerez). It is possible that the term refers to the tavern custom "cantar a las cañas (de vino)", which means "singing to the wine glasses". The Caña is also a Spanish song form (Palo) of flamenco.....

    Great course. Lots of good material. I really feel like I understand it now. Almost gave up at the "Enjoyment" test, since two of the test questions are a bit inconsistent with the course material. May be a translation issue.
